Запрошуємо вас до участі в онлайн семінарі "Introduction to the Use of Corpora and Corpus Tools in the Study of Language", який відбудеться 3 лютого 2021 об 11.00 на платформі Google Meet.
Учасники семінару:
- ознайомляться з корпусною лінгвістикою
- навчаться використовувати такі засоби корпусної лінгвістики як the British National Corpus and the Corpus of Contemporary American English
- дізнаються про ресурси, інструменти та методи аналізу за допомогою практичних матеріалів зі спеціалізованої літератури з корпусної лінгвістики
- познайомляться з різними кількісними методами, які використовуються для проведення корпусного дослідження.
Семінар складається з вступної та практичної частини. У вступній частині мова піде про низку ключових концепцій та технік, що використовуються у корпусній лінгвістиці. Практична частина покаже кілька доступних онлайн ресурсів, різні за стосунки для демонстрації та аналізу, порівняння та використання лінгвістичної інформації з корпусу. Доповідач: доцент кафедри Англійської філології факультету іноземної філології НПУ імені М.П.Драгоманова Амест Тамарзян. Вона виконує дисертаційне дослідження з прикладної та загальної лінгвістики. Влітку 2018 Амест Тамарзян закінчила інтернатуру з корпусної лінгвістики Бірмінгемському Університеті в Об’єднаному Королівстві. Восени 2020 вона закінчила онлайн-курс «Корпусна лінгвістика: методи, аналіз, інтерпретація» в Ланкастерському Університеті (Об’єдненане Королівство).

We invite you to participate in the online seminar "Introduction to the Use of Corpora and Corpus Tools in the Study of Language", which is held on February 3, 2021 at 11.00 a.m. via Google Meet.
The participants will be:
- introduced to the field of corpus linguistics
- learn how to utilize existing corpora such as the British National Corpus and the Corpus of Contemporary American English
- learn about tools, resources and methods of analysis with the help of examining practical material from the corpus linguistics literature
- get acquainted with different quantitative methods necessary for carrying out corpus investigation.
The seminar includes introductory and practical sessions. The first one provides information on a number of key concepts and techniques used by corpus linguistics. The practical session explores several freely available online resources, various software applications for displaying, analysing, comparing and otherwise extracting linguistic information from corpora. The speaker is Dr.Hamest Tamrazyan, associate professor of the Department of English Philology at the Dragamanov National Pedagogical University. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied and General Linguistics. In summer 2018 she completed an internship on corpus linguistics in the School of English, Drama, and American and Canadian Studies at the University of Birmingham, UK. In autumn 2020 she took an on line course "Corpus linguistics: method, analysis, interpretation" at the Lancaster University, UK.
